More on the always expect a train theme:

Truck hits train and  "The driver was cited for failing to use due care by NHP. "

This was the first report I saw,. I note that the report is pretty bareboned; but I gather from the location that the train in question was a California Zephyr ... but I looked for more and found:

My understanding is that this was the westbound California Zephyr due to arrive in Reno at 8:30 yesterday morning and it was struck by a southbound semi -- which, looking at the road and track configuration there -- had been probably traveling in tandem with the train for some miles...

We expect to travel to Reno by California Zephyr next year -- all your truckers stay smart!

I have a feeling he was coming down the road, was used to seeing the train sort of right there, and then when the road/track varied, he wasn't expecting it... long night of driving, shadows on the road, etc ... but still...
I'd worked with two people (while paying my way through college) who later died by running at speed into the side of a train that was using a very rarely used grade crossing. Guess everyone was lucky in the Nevada incident.
