and today's lunch is Steve's Own Pork and Cranberry Rice Soup ... which really ought to herald an
afternoon of relaxation instead of a sea of boxes needing tape... but I have Van Morrison on Pandora at the
moment, so it isn't a bad afternoon so far ...

Hoisin sauce (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hoisin_sauce) is the sauce served with Chinese crispy aromatic duck. Sometimes incorrectly called plum sauce (there are no plums in sight).

Plum sauce is my absolute favorite chinese sauce! Now I know what to look for in a store. Oh boy! Thank you for the info!

Hoisin sauce is another "found in my kitchen, not in my mother's" along with sweet and sour sauce and duck sauce. Duck sauce would also work with the pork I guess, but I think hoisin sauce is more thematic given the color.
