I gather we (that is, Maine residents) have been beset by an influx of flatlanders who want to tell us what to do and how to do it, yet again.  This time around we've been getting visitors from the south warning that God will get us if this state lets people share their lives in certain ways.  here's a link to an article about one group: http://www.bangordailynews.com/detail/104109.html -- this group brandishing the name American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family and Property and that makes me wonder if they wish to insist that wives are still property right up there with the family chicken and milch-cow.  And do *you* think it odd that these 9 men are traveling together without supervision?  And WTF -- they've trademaked the lion on their red and gold banner? Wow!

In any case, here's what the fuss is about:  http://www.mainelegislature.org/legis/bills/bills_124th/billtexts/SP038401.asp
and everyone in the state legislature seems to want to get this voted on so they can get back to worrying about the economy.  I hope they realize that Maine -- Vacationland as it is sometimes known -- could use and welcome the economic boost of a new set of vacationers.

The issue has already reared its ugly head in Texas, and I'm very, very sorry to say that I was in the minority.
