Three more and then a ride south later

Three more of the day-lily persuasion popped open this morning... and by looking at the buds remaining it appears we're now very much on the downward slide... maybe we'll have enough to get me to DragonCon....
I do keep thinking I'll make a day lily border on the side of our property facing the golf-course-style lawn.

Weather is ugly ugly as I found out while rescuing the hummingbird feeder, which was torn from it's post overnight. Walked outside for a few moments in the visibly thick air, rising temps, humidity. Later today a trip to Augusta to pick up the first dozen Advance Reading Copies, if all goes well.

Yes, I was relieved to see the shuttle land. Weren't you?

We've decided to try to take a few copies of the Local Custom audiobook to DragonCon; with luck we'll have some room somewhere to get them on sale.

Yesterday... more work on the office, and some work on Web of The Trident... WotT? WOTT? Maybe I'll confuise folks and call it "wootie"...

By the way, we finished watching Fruits Basket the other night. Wonder what it would be like to watch it non-stop... Was it Thuy who suggested that to us? Thanks. We've also seen Spirited Away, which was strange, too.

Also BTW: Mainley Yours, Stratton, ME -- really, if you're going the the Sugarloaf USA region anytime soon, do stop in and tell Joe we sent you. This is *not* a paid ad. It's because we really enjoyed the meal, and Stratton could use the tourists.

Saw some butterflies, hurrah. Do you remember when butterflies were common?

Since the big bad days of aerial malathion spraying in the late 1980's are over and with our neighbors using less chemicals, we are finally seeing more butterflies.

We do see a wide variety of bird species in LA believe it or not. We see hawks almost daily and an occasional sighting of a golden eagel often see flying over San Marino. He must like the economy in SM. Anyway, it I don't watch the daily news I am encouraged. Saw 3 deer in Monrovia this weekend, one red fox, and 14 turkey vultures roosing in a euc. How great.

Not me... I suspect it was ellayn. The first time I saw it was the teaser copy she brought to Conduit in SLC. That's how she got me hooked. In retaliation, I have yet to return her DVD's that I borrowed at Noreascon. :)

Howl's Moving Castle from the same people is on my "to see" list. Great book too!

we still have not been able to find our own copy of "George Lucas in Love!"

...and last night we watched yet another sub-titled move... yes, my step-father knew (from when I was a young boy and preferred reading to going out and rough-housing with 30 of my older brother's friends) that I was going to be watching those "foreign art films" in my dotage. Last night we watched "George Sands In Lust" .. or Children of the Century ... isn't NetFlix wonderful?

I don't know that I "suggested" it. I mentioned that I had done so.

Actually, I had to break it up -- started Friday evening and continued as long as I could stay awake. After a few hours of sleep, watched the rest on Saturday.

Why, yes, the Commander was out of town that weekend. Why do you ask? *smirk*
