Roar of the crowd
4 July 2005 11:07Well, actually, I can relax now, since I've been holding off doing some stuff until the jets flew by -- they scare the cats when they come in like they're on a bombing run, and they can surprise the heck of me even when I know they're due in.
So, with time on hands, I did some egoscan stuff... discovering that Crystal Soldier is ranked in the 11,000s today at Amazon -- it was 4800 and change a few days ago, and then yesterday at one point in the 20,000s... meanwhile *something happened* with The Tomorrow Log ranking yesterday -- we've reports of it being in the 20,000s... though it's much worse this morning. Guess someone mentioned it at a convention and everyone went out and bought one as soon as they got home... Sword of Orion was at 39000 and change the other day and is at 77,164 today -- that's pretty good for a book with no cover posted and not due out until October.
Now, Crystal Soldier is 6014 at BN.com as I type -- and that's real solid for them. I'm pleased. They don't show Sword of Orion yet... but I'm heartened to find The Tomorrow Log over *there* at 34,601.. which seems to show that someone somewhere *did* talk it up, since that book's been out over two years. Balance of Trade is at 19,000 and change, which is respectable for a book out a year and half, I guess, though the trade did come out late...
The morning's been spent finding and adjusting photos for PR use... and watching for late-breaking photos from Deep Impact. We were in the "can't possibly see" zone last night, which was lousy given that viewing was good, with clear sky and a bit of a breeze and the scope was just itching for a once-in-a-lifetime look.... sigh.
Now, more PR things to be done, and then later today we'll grill some salmon for lunch.
