Connery Beagle ought to hear about this -- imagine taking long trips to go run in the snow with a bunch of other dogs...and a girl with too much time on her hands. Or maybe just enough time on her hands.
Over achiever from Jackman, Maine.

And by the way, if you like the woods and the lake, the largest single housing development in Maine history is proposed... for the Moosehead lake region. Id be tempted, if I had the money. We're talking *really* beautiful. The locals are not so sure about it all.

And by the way, this would also probably affect Jackman, which is but a few miles away across the back woods....

Meanwhile, we're crossing our fingers for a friend who has a nibble from tinseltown, and we're looking at three more dental appointments in the next 10 days or so, lucky us...

Also meanwhile, I have the window in my office open to the shrill sounds of arguing red-wings.

A pause while I get a cookie before getting the interstellar war up to full speed. Maybe two cookies, really. It's going to be that kind of war.

And one more thing. If the Bush administration gets it's way we may need to drive to COSine next winter, since AMTRAK's going to go on the chopping block, the way I hear it. That's a long drive in wintertime....
so we might be asking for advice on good Italian restuarants in the strangest places come fall.

I have this sudden, frantic feeling that we need to ALL write our congress critters about NOT selling Amtrak--in fact, about pouring some money into it pronto. If the stuff I'm reading about projections on oil (the next ten years especially) are at all correct, we're gonna need a nationwide railroad badly. A railroad that works well.

If the worse case projection I heard today comes true ($100/barrel within 12 months) we are SO screwed. But if the administration has sold Amtrak by then, the sale might guarantee an overthrow of bush cronies in 2006. But I don't know where that person read the figure, so no idea how reliable it is.

The Nibble?

Were you crossing your fingers just because a friend had a nibble and good for him. Of is it for one of your books? Inquiring minds want to
know, especialy if a laidan universe novel will see a Big Screen treatment.

Ah, well, if the nibble was for us you probably wouldn't hear about it until we had something in hand; over the last few years we've had -- as most writers do, I think -- three or four inquiries about different stories and books. And, after all,one of those ended nibbles up as the forthcoming audiobook, and that's cool...

But no, the crossed fingers are for a friend who's been at this for some time; we've been hoping and pulling and sharing info with said frined for years now. The thing is that once you reach a certain level of proficiency getting "the break" is a matter of time and timing. In this case, I think the time is close for our friend and we're cheering.
