OK, I got an electronic shipment late yesterday, rush, from PA. There was special packing tape seal on top with the important warnings:

DO NOT DROP! FRAGILE! KEEP DRY!

Understand that the contents were about the size of a well-boxed external hard drive or older desktop modem ...
and that there was a packing slip, too. A LARGE packing slip, if I may say so -- in fact, the packing slip entirely covered, not to say obscured, the important warnings ... sigh. The contents arrived OK anyhow.

Always expect a train and other stories: here's a lucky fellow -- please don't try this at home:

Worldcon party plans for FoL continue -- more as details emerge. If you expect to be at RenoVation and will have a car available for sight-seeing or supply pick-up, be sure to let us know as the time come closer.

We'll be driving there. Our car will have a car seat in it, and we won't be able to hang around before or after con, but if it or we can be useful let us know.

Steve and I will be renting a car in Reno - generally mid-size. I believe we can put it and ourselves at your disposal for supply runs. We also have a Sams Club membership and there is one in Reno. The current plans are to arrive on Tues and stay for a few days (up to a week) in the general area after the convention to do some sightseeing.

Please let us know if we can assist. You should still have all my contact information from last year (Oasis). Feel free to contact me at my work e-mail since that will get the quickest / best response.

Have you noticed how soporific railroad crossings are?

You'd think the double bump going over the rails would jolt people awake.

Very few vehicle suspensions are that good.

I rather wish there were more details about exactly how far that pressure wave/rail buckle traveled.

Good luck

Good luck with that bit of hardware. Lucky for me the nearest train starts, I believe in Los Angeles, goes through Flagstaff 4 hours away. After that Albuquerque I think and then.....don't know. Wish I was closer to Reno. Am about 4 hours from Las Vegas, but Reno maybe 9, 12 hours.

Hi, I will be at RenoVation and will have a car. Let me know what you need and my son (tall, strong, lanky, 25 yr old) and I (not any of those but a very safe driver) will be glad to help. Kathy from CA
