Why did the turkeys cross the road after the dusting of snow?

Ah, well, that's because the apple tree winterfall was on the other side.

It snowed last night, just a little, and the turkeys took the outside route (down the middle unkept ground between our house and our neighbor's house) and not the the inside route (where they pick up odds and ends of seeds from our bird feeders -- a trick they often reserve for the late winter) ... and they marched over to the apple tree. At first I saw three, but the other 4 had waited out a car .. so now there are seven.

So the answer to why did the turkey's cross the road? Breakfast.

Why id the author cross the kitchen? To get more coffee, of course. Oh, and also breakfast, which is heating now. I'm having somethiing simple -- oatmeal with cinnamon and maple syrup.

What's your day like, anywho?

Nice bright early afternoon, along with a lunch of winter veg soup and fresh bread as a break from reading OU course work.

Snow -- just enough to cover the ground. The cat is driving me nuts, but is currently chasing a coiled up pipe cleaner because it viciously attacked him.

Current plan : Clean the kitchen. Then mess up certain parts of it again by making risotto.

Later : Role playing game.

Pumpkin pancakes with oranges and bacon. I only get one tablespoon of maple syrup, but the pancakes are so good, they don't need much anyway.

The rest of the day? I hope we go for a long walk.

Sitting in bed (the warmest room in the house) watching Sky High on DVD and doing some data entry for work, while being snuggled by 2 of my 3 cats.

Might clean the kitchen later, but it's cold down there!

It's snowing here too in southern UT. And no doubt up in the Canyon there are turkeys crossing the road. Although we, here, are at 5,000 feet. The poor folks in Atlanta are getting much more snow than they know what to do with. At least where we live folks are used to snow. And wild turkeys.
Good luck,
C.

Not turkeys, but other birds -- just watched a red-tail hawk underneath one of my feeders, eating what looked like a sparrow (but might have been a junco -- hard to tell at that point).

This is a bit more remarkable when you consider that I live in the city -- about a 10 minute walk from Harvard Square.

Very odd feeling when I first saw it -- a bit of "ick!" mixed with "gee, that's cool". Cool won, I am a carnivore myself, after all.
