I'ts also a Spike Jones song "It's a beautiful day for the race today folks" ... "And the winner is - Beatlebomb". 1940s? 1930s? Fun!

I only know about it as a Marx Bros movie.

It's also the title of a Liaden story. I have a tendency to swipe the titles of Marx Brothers movies when I can't think of a title. We also have committed a fantasy story entitled A Night at the Opera.

You have good taste. And several more title opportunities.

And an album by Queen.

Marx Brothers movie. We (or rather Younger Son, in his pile of post-college debris) may possess a copy.

Cool!

I thought of your story first but then the Marx Bros. movie. Those links to hovercraft races are
very cool, though. Remind me a bit of the more
wacky Top Gear episodes. (It's on the BBC website)

In other news...I think this was your snow.
24+ inches, heavy, wet, lots.
Ya gonna come get it?

I thought first about your story and then about the vehicles. I pictured them racing a hovering version of Omnis and Fiats
