Not going to the office and other tales

Yesterday CMP was moving cables in the area near the office and we had a number of power outages. After one of them... the DSL line got zapped and after using the cellphone for sometime (like over an hour) I managed to convince the help desk guy that having Linux on my computers was not the problem -- and we have arranged for a new modem to be sent.

And given that I can't work remotely from there at the moment, and the state of Saltation, today I'll be staying close to home.
