I spent the first part of the morning sitting without computer as various papers shuffled hither and yon and then... it was time for my flu shot. Call that time an investment.
Meanwhile, Theo's story got online before noon, hooray, and between chapter-work yesterday I read this:
http://antickmusings.blogspot.com/2008/10/on-being-skipped.html which offers a lot of insight into the publishing world. New writers and new publishers, take note. The author of the post is Andrew Wheeler, a fairly knowledgeable guy who was my direct supervisor back in the day when I was reading/commenting for Science Fiction Book Club.
Meanwhile, in case you haven't seen it, our very own Rolanni has some commentary on writing and academia which has generated a few dozen comments already:

Meanwhile, lunch is coming and sometime soon, as in within the next 72 hours or so probably, a Liaden Universe InfoDump ... watch for it.
Later today, I think, off to the chess club, which has been missed due to recent travels and travails. Tomorrow I pick up the key...

2008-10-20 18:54 (UTC)Thanks for putting "It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood" into my head. Oy.
Perhaps listening to Mr. Rogers is a good thing on a crazy Monday morning. =)

2008-10-21 10:27 (UTC)On the way to the doctor's office for the flu shot yesterday I got hit upside the head with a couple of oldies from a theme set that competed for my attention all day long -- "Jessie's Girl" and "Sylvia's Mother" ...sigh ...so to free you from the neighborhood -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z4asAOyglCc

2008-10-22 21:23 (UTC)The problem with things posted on the internet is that people can find them for YEARS afterward. I've frozen comments, because now I'm starting to get the folks who just want to break up the furniture.
