How'd you like to push a locomotive around? If you get lucky, you can do it in Unity!

Meanwhile, if you happen by a magazine stand, the latest issue of a major publication has an article: called "The Wiscasset Dream Reborn" with a subhead .... "See how this Maine two-footer came back to life with a vengeance" ... Me, I think they overdo the subhead, but hey, it's close enough to local. Trains magazine -- you didn't know? Well ... vist here: http://www.trains.com/trn/default.aspx?c=i&id=2&iid=47
And so, I'll be in Montreal the end of this week. Is there anything really special on/about the Metro there, besides the rubber tires? Anything close to a must see site for a railfan?
Also: http://morningsentinel.mainetoday.com/news/local/4321689.html ... news from our larger neighborhood. We'll be signing Liaden Universe Companion #2 "on the Concourse" October 27th -- stop in Childrens Boolcellar!
More later -- time to eat!

Place for A Railfan to visit
2007-10-07 16:10 (UTC)You might wanted to visit the Canadian Railroad Museum in Saint-Constant.

There nothing really special about the Metro. The reason for the rubber tires on the rolling stock, it is more efficient for short hauls. Other mass transit systems also selected rubber tires for the same reason.
The Metro is great for getting around the Montreal downtown area. Most shopping venues have direct access to the Metro. You can get a tourist card (all access pass) for 3 days ($17 CAD) or 1 day ($9 CAD) for the Metro and Bus service. Don't think there's any other place that got public transit that inexpensive.
See you in Montreal soon.
On the Concourse
2007-10-08 02:36 (UTC)But it's a metropolis compared to everything within a thirty minute drive, and so gets good business. I was most impressed when we stopped, a year ago. Alas, the newly renovated depot does not get passenger trains.
