Me, I just hate it when things that are supposed to be automatic... aren't. Can't blame the ftp program, though... it did what I actually told it, instead of what I meant to tell it.

In case you don't know, that means Fledgling, Chapter 27 is up, though it went up about 25 minutes late. At least the teaser got out on time.

Around here: the last of the current day lily blooms burst today ... I'm not expecting any more this year, but last year we had a couple of late ones, after all...

Yes, I have made my hotel reservations for ConCept 2007 .. which means I can scout out Montreal a bit for WorldCon 2009 -- they won the vote and I know they worked hard to do it, having spoke with them at ...a number of cons in the last few years.

Most of the 67 World's Fair installations is gone. After all it's been four decades, much of the exhabits was build for a 5 year lifespan. You might have seen the location of the fair on TV. It's the annual site of several auto races as the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve (Formula One Montreal Grand Prix, Nascar currently along with the departed Champcar event). Much of the fair location is converted to parkland with a 6 Flags amusement park on the remainder. The racetrack is on the perimeter of the island fair site.

Your memory didn't fail you. The USA geodesic dome exhibit got gutted by fire, then rebuild as an ecological exhibit. The l'habitat on the waterfront was converted to condos, still fully occupied.

Sadly the Montreal metro isn't so clean or quiet anymore. The portions of the Metro from 67 is over 40 years old. One must expect wear and tear from such long usage. The old portion of the Metro is getting refurbished soon. However the downtown core couldn't function without the Metro, it is still a efficient people mover. Much of the downtown is accessible via the Metro and the surrounding underground passages.

A side note. The current NYC subway's and the Montreal Metro's rolling stock are produced by the Bombardier Group of Montreal (multi-national transportation company)

Montreal have change quite drastically. You wouldn't recognized the city from 10 years ago.
