The number below will fluctuate somewhat curiously as I go through what I had and revise it; some days progress will thus be minor but other days it may appear that I've added 2300 words when all I've done is change the tense of a couple paragraphs and dropped them in.

Deer do not like plants with fuzzy gray foliage. Shepherd's ear comes to mind, and others in that family. It may not be practical to surround the lily bed with large plantings, however. We used to wrap trunks of young trees with aluminum foil, won't be practical for individual day lilies. Joan C
