Dear Friends of Liad and all the ships at sea:

we discover from recent email queries that some Ace editions of the Liaden books are becoming increasingly difficult to find. We have on hand a few copies of most of the Ace editions, and in fact can put together all of two complete extra sets of the more or less current Ace editions,

Agent of Change
Conflict of Honors
Carpe Diem
Plan B
I Dare
Local Custom
Scout's Progress
Balance of Trade

while we have a few more of the other books, the limiting factors are the Prism award-winning books Scout's Progress, of which we have 2 copies beyond the working/author copies we need, and Local Custom, of which we have three.

so should we:

1) let you guys know and accept offers for the set from the regulars in case someone here still needs a complete signed set of the Ace books...

2) or put them on eBay and compete with all the other people who are trying to sell the books at what seem to us to be outrageous prices?

I will mention that in the next few days I will be listing the other books on the SRM website, though I may try some eBay auctions as well. I also have a few extra copies of some of our other books which I'll be listing as direct purchase from the SRM site in the coming days...

Also, we have two unbound/uncut, suitable for custom binding copies of I Dare. Do you think they're eBay items?

"suitable for custom binding copies...".

Are they eBay items? probably, although you might want to consider setting a reserve on them and pulling them to hold a later auction if the bidding doesn't get up to a reasonable level.

You might want to talk to the NESFA Press folks, who've put a couple of low-numbered signed copies of one thing or another up on eBay -- and done well with them.

Whimper - it's been SO hard to find copies of Local Custom and Scout's Progress. I've only read those from the library. And Aelliana is my very favorite character.

So I guess I'm voting #1...

I agree with the earlier comment on the I Dare specials.

I (who have a complete Meisha Merlin autographed set and am thus removed from the competition) think that you should put them on E-Bay. There are many things you and Rolanni could do with the money. Put a reserve price on them so you clear a decent amount of cash and see who'll pay what.

They are a very valuable set of books. I hope you make a LOT of $.

say, do you still have the original cover art for Agent of Change on display in your home? I seem to remember seeing it in your 1991 lair.

Since I also have purchased several signed copies of each from that selection, I will remove from the competion as well and offer up the opinion that the AUTHORS certainly deserve any profit they can make on such as their labors may yield.

Fair Trading! Good Profit!
