Please feel free to tell your friends these words are available... My correspondents are *not* stuck in front of a computer at work today, so we don't have running totals on any of the BROI (book rankings of interest).

Besides playing with code I spent part of the day winterizing a few windows and an air conditioner; and part online making whirlwind travel plans. I expect to be back in front of the computer on Tuesday unless I find good connections on the road... and I may just leave the laptop home since I can't drive and type at the same time.

I was taught that 'myriad' is a quantity (originally ten thousand, now non-specific), and is used the way you would use 'many' or 'divers' or 'countless' or "ten thousand". The first sentence of the prologue startled me when I hit "...a myriad of ways". Shouldn't that just be "myriad ways"?

Of course, there are dozens of such things I was taught, that are now old-fashioned at best, archaic at worst, so who knows... And that's even after you weed out the ones that were never correct, like the bit about not ending sentences with prepositions, or splitting infinitives.
