You know, as in Who's The Fan?

I've been called too fannish by some pros and told by some fans that I was was writing too much to call myself a fan. Pfui ... this is my community, and has been for years.

So, I was startled (and saddened) today to see SFWA's griefcom involved in a dispute between an author and a fannish business. Usually griefcom deals in private with issues between writing professionals and publishers or agents, and acts when it can as a mediator.

I have no personal stake in the dispute mentioned on this public page of the SFWA website -- I'm not involved with griefcom, nor have a I discused this with anyone directly dealing with the problem.

Anne McCaffrey is one of those involved, and the dispute centers on Pern-related materials.

WARNING: If you are bored by legal wrangling, don't go here:

I just really hate to see things come to a head like this. And yes, there are all kinds of legal issues involved, and some ethical ones, too. Like "What don't you understand about 'stop'?"

This may be a cheat -- not sure how fast [livejournal.com profile] rolanni is on the draw today --
but we've come up with a tile for the next chapbook. Depending on circumstances I may manage
to get it into the catalog as a pre-order this weekend. Why is it a cheat? Though I'm frequently
the title maven, this time around, Rolanni thunk it up.

Oh, what? You want to know what the title is?

Try:

The lily count for today: 2.

Looks like I have 2 more in the wings; there's another that looks to be too small to make it. We'll see, he says...

The hurricane about to hit Florida is due over Atlanta Tuesday, I think ... while we're due in Atlanta next weekend. It *does* appear that by the time the storm hits Atlanta it will be just a few thunderstorms, so I'm hoping not to have to switch travel plans to avoid any lingering weather stuff...

Edited a few minutes later to add this, which I'd left in the clipboard...:
