I'm boring. Really, I'm a Genuine Boring Old Fart(TM) when it comes to chess. I'm not interested in a game advertised with the phrase... "chess played with cards - and what cards! Each card breaks the rules in a wild and unpredictable way..."
I am (or at least was) a tournament director -- I've directed state championships -- and I've been playing competitive chess for 38 years. I like that there are no stupidly surprising things... (well, I was directing a state championship when the fire alarm went off and I had to oversee the quick evacuation of the room...) but there's enough unpredictability and mystery in a good chess game that I don't want to add the equivalent of spinners and dice and "get out of mate free" cards to it...
