Idle hands and all that stuff ...

When the move didn't finish today I went to the grocery and picked up a few things...and then came home and starting the crockpot going -- includes fresh: potato, carrots, onion, mushroom, about 2 lbs of chicken tenders, along with leftover broccoli and water, a little chicken broth, some dry soup veggies, and canned diced tomato with green chili. Probably won't be done in time for our evening meal today, but it will be great to have on hand.

But that wasn't enough, I guess. Now the chocolate chip cookies are baking.

What's cooking that smells good at your house?

Dinner tonight was boring - California Pizza Kitchen Chicken Pesto pizza w/ blackberries and whipped cream for dessert, a local hard cider for beverage.

I don't know what supper is going to be - probably more boring.

Dinner tomorrow will be better - lamb stew meat curry, with Normandy Blend veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots & summer squash). I may get ambitious and also make coconut rice pudding (short or medium grain rice, coconut milk, milk and sugar - hmm, I wonder if I have enough milk?).

Compared to many of the other things listed, grocery store frozen pizza is boring (which is what the California Pizza Kitchen was). And the whipped cream was out of a pressurized jar.

You can buy ready made frozen chicken and pesto pizza where you are?
Gosh. Such a thing is unknown here, although a few pizza outlets and Italian restaurants have it.

Frozen pizza here you can have pepperoni, supreme or Hawaiian, and of course gluten free options are even more limited.

There are some advantages to living in a major US cosmopolitan area. Especially one that has a demographics that make it major food test market. (Which means if we ever see something new in the store that we like, we need to buy lots of it!)

For frozen pizza, I can easily get plain cheese, four or five cheese, pepperoni, sausage, supreme, Hawaiian, mixed meats, barbecue chicken, marguerita (alfredo sauce, tomatoes & mozzarella), garlic chicken alfredo, and chicken fajita.

I'm spoiled.

Yes. Yes you are. But I expect none of them taste quite as good as home made. :-)

Oh, definitely not!

Tonight is my first graveyard shift since ... the late 80's? I'm going to be cruel to my co-workers.

I did end up making the curry - lamb stew meat, caramelized onions, garlic, ~2 tablespoons of Penzey's Sweet Curry Powder, Normandy Blend Vegetable mix (as described above), and a can of coconut milk. We had if for dinner - it was really good! And there's enough left over that I can take it to work for lunch/supper/whatever that meal will be.
