Quick, Thursday strikes again!

More on the always expect a train theme:

Truck hits train and  "The driver was cited for failing to use due care by NHP. "

This was the first report I saw,. I note that the report is pretty bareboned; but I gather from the location that the train in question was a California Zephyr ... but I looked for more and found:

My understanding is that this was the westbound California Zephyr due to arrive in Reno at 8:30 yesterday morning and it was struck by a southbound semi -- which, looking at the road and track configuration there -- had been probably traveling in tandem with the train for some miles...

We expect to travel to Reno by California Zephyr next year -- all your truckers stay smart!

I've been on the Zephyr on it's trip to Sacramento. The scenery is wonderful. Make sure you are in the sight-seeing car (lounge) on the way up and down the Rockies and have your camera handy. It's a trip I would love to repeat.

Thanks for the pointers. We've got some idea already -- this will be perhaps our 8th or 10th trip on the route, but I think the times of travel have changed somewhat since our first trip out back in the dark ages before Agent of Change hit the stands. That train was all what they called "legacy equipment" so the modern trip is much more comfortable, you betcha! There are some part of the trip we leave the books in the suitcase, that's for sure!
