Hot, humid, and the hurricane is far from here

Steam bath time in Central Maine. I think the two lily pods that are out there are defunct. I probably have to drive to Augusta later in the hottest part of the day. Way to plan, Steve

So do tell me something cool -- or something cooling -- that's been happening with you, can you?

It rained a couple of days ago and is only expected to hit 68F out here on the other coast. ;D

Cloudy, windy (gusts +40 MPH), temp 57F in the Twin Cities. Saw your weather Monday.

It's my b-day (took the day off) and found out that I won a copy of Kage Baker's Bird of the River via Graeme's Fantasy Book Review blog! I'm staying inside and cool b/c it's darn hot outside. I recommend Trader Joe's mochi ice cream as a way to quickly cool off.

Melita -- hi there! I'm afraid the closest Trader Joe's is 3 or 4 hours from here, at high speed. We live in the country.

Let's see. If you have a freezer or even just ice, you can make ice cream (we'll leave that as an exercise for the reader -- but there's the old organ-grinder ice makers, or more recent fun and games in the freezer, or even just putting it in a small tupperware inside a larger plastic container or bag of ice and salt, then agitate... probably other ways, too!) Mochi is green tea... that might be more difficult in the country. How about mint? Or...

I thought there might not be one near you, but...!

Am at Worlcon. Wet and cold. And I left my umbrella in a restaurant I think.

Baen panel did put up cover art of Fledgling, Saltation and Mouse and Dragon though as part of presentation.

Here this morning the air is clear and cool, and coffee is brewing -- I'm glad we're part of the Baen tour even when we aren't present --
