Hellspark

The object in question looks like:

...

A sample can be found on:
the Meisha Merlin Hellspark page which was still up this morning.

What is is: A complex tale of first, second, and third contact with AI, alien, and human cultural elements. The protagonist wears glasses. Or maybe this is a deep and fragile love story. Or... well.... read it.

So, As time permits I'll set up a page for ordering from SRM Publisher; I think I have about 50 copies or so. Our plan is to set-aside a 10 percent royalty for the author since I'm not sure if these books come to us under the same conditions ours did from my recent trip, though it seems likely.

Let me note that, as with most Meisha Merlin book covers, the cover is somewhat darker in person than it is on the computer screen. Shame, really, that disconnect between art and reality.

Oh, heck, my little paperback is looking worn, and I'm sure someone needs to read it. Put me down for a copy.

First, second, and third contact - well, plenty of contacts, some AI, aliens, human culture (although perhaps the humans are the most alien). And a mystery, don't forget the mystery. And bringing up a uniquity. And . . . you're right, just read it, you won't be disappointed. Although you will be looking for Mirabile. And searching for more from Janet Kagan.

Isn't it odd how some of the best books are incredibly difficult to review in a short form?

I *love* this book! Do you know if she plans to write any more, either about Tocohl or something new?

I'm interested in a copy of that book... Can you save me one? Please?

a debt of gratitude

It was while searching for anything by Janet Kagan that I first came across the MM website, which led me in turn to by my first copy of PIN. So I owe Janet a mile of thanks for indirectly introducing me to all things Liaden.

And, I need another copy of Hellspark because I forgot to attach the LoJack when I last lent it out.

do we reserve now, or wait until it goes up on the SRM site? If now, put me down. I can send the payment through PayPal. Or I can wait, but not long.

me, too!

I echo saruby's enquiries. Looks like the box is emptying fast. Please reserve one for me. Thanks!

Me too please for a copy. Will pay through Paypal. Or must I haunt the SRM site waiting for the ability to order...

Well...

OK

let me get that page together. Should go up by about 7 PM Eastern, today, Thursday. Got a couple things ahead of it...

OK, and now a silly Paypal trick seems to be happening...
or a silly Seamonkey trick, one. At last try the order 1 and order 3 buttons were working but order 2 was not, for people using Explorer. Wanna try? I'm probably still working on it.

Here's our Hellspark page (http://www.korval.com/hellspark.htm), in beta if not in carotene.

I haven't gotten an email receipt, either, although my paypal account shows the transaction...

As far as I can tell everything is working fine now; the problem with the page beta seems to was fixed, at least for non MSExploder users, rather quickly. As for receipts -- they can take awhile to show up -- if it shows in your account it shows in mine, I expect.

Well, I ordered three, one to replace my rather worn copy and the other two for very dear friends who really need to read it.

One thing you didn't mention was the two afterwords in the MM edition. They alone are worth the price!
