I suspect that the Kindle version has a different ISBN (if e-books have ISBNs at all) which would make it a different item, just as the paperback editions do. But being ahead of David Weber is pretty darn good by any standard.

Amazon UK are still sticking to the "pre-order" status and release date of 8th September, which probably means that they don't have any this side yet. Interesting though the list of "What Do Customers Ultimately Buy After Viewing This Item?":

60% buy the item featured on this page: Fledgling (Liaden Universe Novel)
13% buy Longeye
11% buy Duainfey
8% buy Saltation

(No indication how many have pre-ordered the paperback versions due out next year.)
